course description

Instrumental Music I

This class, the first in the four-year instrumental music sequence, is open to experienced student musicians through an audition process.  Meeting four times per cycle, the student will build a foundation in instrumental performance through blues and jazz repertoire.  The course will thoroughly study the basics of music as well as introduce improvisational techniques applicable to contemporary music of any genre. Enrollment in Jazz Ensemble or Studio Band is suggested.
